Great lash extensions start in the chair, but how long they last depends on how you look after them at home. Follow this simple guide to keep your lashes full, fluffy and beautiful between appointments.

Lash care guide infographic from Atelier de Lashes covering the first 24 hours, 2 to 4 days, general care, lash wash and maintenance

The first 24 hours

It can take up to 24 hours for lash adhesive to fully set, so these first hours matter most:

  • Avoid direct contact with water.
  • Do not play with, rub or tug your lashes.
  • Do not apply any products to your eyes.

Days 2 to 4

  • Avoid steam rooms, saunas and steam facials, and be careful with hot showers.
  • Do not use any products on your eyes.
  • Do not rub your eyes.

General lash care

  • Always remove all eye makeup before sleeping.
  • Avoid oil-based products around your eyes.
  • Avoid sleeping masks and anything that can press or catch on your lashes.

How to wash your lashes

Cleanse daily with water and a disposable mascara wand to keep your lashes clean and tangle-free. Use an appropriate lash cleanser once or twice a week.

Maintenance and refills

Get a refill every 2 to 3 weeks to keep your lashes looking full and beautiful. Do not rub or play with your lashes, because this can pull out your own natural lashes.
